"More than anything else, it's getting ready mentally for what is about to happen,'' Bruesewitz said. "I take this stuff pretty seriously, as does everyone else. We try to be as attentive to detail as we can be. If we see something with the ball screen, we're going to apply our rules and play it a certain way. "When I finish up with the video clips, Bo will say a few things. Basically, it will be a summary of what we've talked about over the last 45 minutes or an hour.'' When the players walk out of the room after the scouting report and sit down for their pregame meal, Ryan said, "I want them hungry for nourishment and I want their minds hungry.'' Hungry for whatever might come up four hours later during the game. "Hopefully they're prepared and there aren't going to be any surprises,'' Close said. "Now it's time to play.'' "In the Big Ten tournament,'' he continued, "you've seen all the teams and players and you know what they want to do. You understand their coaching style and the gist of what they want to do. "Usually the coaches spell out everything for us. If we have a question on how we're going to guard something, it's generally asked the day before in practice.'' Quizzed on the assistant coaches' presentations, Bruesewitz said, "It's about the same. Each coach has his own approach to it (the scouting report). But each does a great job.'' Time is of the essence within that one-hour window on game days. "We're not going to re-invent the wheel,'' Gard said. "There's not going to be anything new that I'm going to uncover for the players that they don't already know. "We're so system-based that we don't change from game to game. 39
