Tangela Smith helped the University of Iowa women's basketball team
start the 1995-96 season with 20 victories in its first 21 games. The
Hawkeyes finished the season with a 27-4 overall record and a No. 7
national ranking. This season, Iowa is off to its best start since, going
14-1 in its first 15 games and the Hawkeyes have climbed to No. 17 in the
latest USA Today Coaches poll.
