From 1970‐85, football champions were crowned in Group A, AA and AAA and in 1986 the VHSL expanded the football playoffs to a six‐divi‐ sion classifica7on format. Galax, Appoma8ox County, Magna Vista, Salem‐ Salem, Highland Springs and Wes6ield claimed VHSL football championships in 2015.
