WELCOME I WANT TO WELCOME YOU TO THE PAC-12, a Conference steeped in tradition and focused on defining the future. Our vision is rooted in the West Coast, where a pioneering spirit and innovation have helped create some of the most significant advancements and leaders the world has ever known. The Pac-12 continues to reach for new heights with our landmark television deal. Along with our television partners and the launch of the Pac-12 Net- works, the Conference will experience unprecendented coverage of all their athletic programs and showcase some of the best of what the Conference has to offer. The Networks, including one national network and six regional networks, in conjunction with four of the nation's largest cable operators, marks the first time a U.S. collegiate conference or any other programmer has launched a collection of networks across a variety of platforms, rather than a sole network. We have great pride and respect for our rich history of academic excellence and superior athletic achievement. It has literally defined us as the "Con- ference of Champions" and we will continue to uphold the traditions and embrace that broad-based commitment to success as we enter a new era in college athletics. The institutions of the Pac-12 are centers of excellence that are fueled by an imperishable pursuit of research and discovery. The commitment to com- prehensive excellence on our campuses has helped produce monumental breakthroughs in medicine, major developments in environmental sustain- ability and cutting edge technology that have had tremendous influence globally. The students and leaders who have helped shape the Conference for nearly a century continue to impact the world and inspire the next gen- eration to even greater heights. We have established a bold vision for the Pac-12 that will encourage more collaboration between all of our schools and will allow athletics to better serve as a bridge to the overall university mission. We are very excited about what the future holds for the Pac-12 and are very much looking forward to another dynamic season of high-caliber competition.
