4 Eldon's Aesthetic Eldon Wong is one of the many talented designers in the Pratt & Lambert Style & Design Guild. His resume spans everything from suburban homes to design museums, and his interior designs have received accolades on both national and international stages. These merits, combined with Wong's unique sense of style, have earned him the 2016 Pratt & Lambert designer spotlight. Eldon's background is in fine arts, architecture and antiques, so he excels at finding color and style combinations that accentuate the shape of a room. At the same time, he believes that each part of a room's décor is an opportunity to celebrate one's individuality. So, while he draws inspiration from the minimalist aesthetic of Japanese and Scandinavian principles, he advocates a highly personalized approach and takes time to make sure every room is livable and perfectly suited to its inhabitants and uses. For example, one of Eldon's must-haves is a beautiful, glass-top coffee table that he can put his feet on. This design- and people-centric approach is perfectly in line with the Pratt & Lambert 2016 Color Trends. Throughout Eldon's decade of experience, he has developed several insider tips for design success. He recommends a strong statement piece to add interest and tie a room together, like the paired gothic candlesticks that appear in much of his work. To emphasize the vertical aspects of a room, Wong suggests tall, vertical pieces that draw the eye upward. He also notes that it's okay to deviate from the norms in décor choices. Traditional white paint on trim can be replaced with a variation of the room's main tone for a more pulled-together feel, and a simple dimmer switch on a main light can expertly guide the room's mood. Whether the project is a full-scale renovation or a smaller project, Eldon's uniquely personal, functional and aspirational tone is apparent in every piece.
