Though WSU made a back-to-back postseason appearances, a first in the history of the program, earning a spot in the WNIT, the Cougs found themselves on the outside-looking-in on NCAA Selection Monday last year. • Washington State will look to new leadership with the exits of All-Pac-12 performers Tia Presley and Lia Gal- deira. WSU has a balanced squad, with a good mix of veterans and newcomers, but will look to senior F Mariah Cooks to step into a leadership role. Senior guard Dawnyelle Awa started every game last season, along with Cooks. She will have to take on a bigger role to help WSU make another postseason run. • WSU boast a lot of international flair with seven players hailing from six different countries. Two incoming Cougars competed with their respective national teams, including center Maria Kostourkova for Portugal and forward Borislava Hristova for Bulgaria. • The Cougars ranked near the bottom of the Conference in every rebounding category last year. With seven players on the roster measuring at under 6-feet, they will have to find a way to battle under the boards if they want to make it to the postseason. • WSU takes on another tough schedule in 2015-16, facing three NCAA Tournament teams in non-confer- ence play, including NCAA Sweet Sixteen participant Gonzaga. 2015-16 WASHINGTON STATE ROSTER JUNE DAUGHERTY Head Coach • 9th Year at Washington State Alma Mater: Ohio State, 1978 90-160 (.360) at Washington State • Overall: 404-374 (.519, 25 Years) Entering her ninth season, she continues to lead the charge toward a new era in WSU women's basketball ... Led the Cougs to their first-ever back-to-back postseason appearances last year ... WSU won nine league games in 2014, the most since 1994-95, and its 17 overall wins the last two years were the most in program history since 1995-96 ... Spent 12 seasons at Washington where she posted nearly 200 victories and led the Huskies to six NCAA Tournament appearances.
