LEAGUE-RECORD 10 TEAMS IN POSTSEASON, STANFORD CLAIMS PAC-12 TITLE STANFORD claimed the 2014 Pac-12 regular-season crown and headlined a league-record 10 NCAA Tourna- ment bids for the Conference, taking down the short-lived record of nine teams 2013. The Cardinal advanced to the national semifinal and it marked the fifth-consecutive year a Pac-12 teams had appeared in the national semifinals. It is the 31st time in 34 years at least one league squad had advanced that far in the postseason event. Stanford highlighted a stacked Pac-12 contigency in the tournament that went a Pac-12 record 10-0 in the first round, only dropping three sets in total. Collectively, the Conference posted a 17-10 record in the NCAA Tournament and is 416-222 all-time. The Cardinal earned the top seed overall and for the second-straight year, Washington garnered the No. 3 seeding with three others also earning one of the top-16 seeds: No. 10 OREGON, No. 11 ARIZONA and No. 12 UCLA. Joining the five seeded teams were ARIZONA STATE, COLO- RADO, OREGON STATE, USC and UTAH. The Pac-12 also set a league record for most teams ranked in the AVCA Coaches Poll with nine teams in the top 25 of the final ranking. Fourteen Pac-12 players were named to AVCA All-America teams, the most selections for the league since 2006. It was the 13th-consecutive year that the Pac-12 has had at least eight student-athletes on the All-America teams. A whopping 22 players were named to the AVCA All-Region teams, with 14 on the All-Pacific North Region squad and eight on the All-Pacific South team. The 22 student-athletes on teams bests the league's previous record of 16 all-region honorees, which was set last year when the All-Pacific team split into North and South divisions. Washington's Krista Vansant was voted the ESPNW National Player of the Year. Vansant was the Pac-12 Player of the Year for the second-straight year. Taras Liskevych of Oregon State was voted the Coach of the Year honor and helped guide Mary-Kate Marshall to Freshman of the Year nods. For the secnod-consecutive year, Stanford's Madi Bugg was the Setter of the Year and UW's Cassie Strickland was named Libero of the Year. 2014 PAC-12 ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM PLAYER, SCHOOL POS. HT.
