Letterwinners Returning/Lost/Newcomers: 6/7/12. Returning starters in bold. HEAD COACH DAVID RUBIO • Begins his 24th season at Arizona where he has led the Wildcats to 12 20-win seasons and 16 NCAA Tournament appearances. • Honored as Coach of the Year by ASICS/Volleyball Magazine during the 2001 campaign, guiding Arizona to its first-ever national semifinal appearance. • Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 2000, leading UA to its first Conference title. • Leads all active Pac-12 coaches with 224 league victories. • Guided Arizona from a winless league record in 1991 to the NCAA West Regionals in 1993. That same year was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) West Region Coach of the Year. TEAM OUTLOOK The Wildcats had 24 wins, the most since 2005, and went to their second-straight NCAA Tour- nament, their fifth in the last six years. Arizona saw five contributing seniors graduate but head coach David Rubio, the team welcomes plenty of talent to potentially make it three-straight trips to the postseason. Arizona returns just two starters from last year's squad, but includes All-Pac-12 performer and setter Penina Snuka who has directed the offense the last two seasons. STRENGTHS » Junior Penina Snuka (pictured) returns as Arizona's top setter after she was an honorable mention selection to the AVCA All-America team. She was also an All-Pac-12 and all-region honoree after leading the Pac-12 with 25 double-doubles. She tallied 1,234 assists (10.82/set) on the season, giving her 2,430 assists in her young career, already eighth in school history. » Senior Halli Amaro saw action in all 34 matches and was one of three players to play all 119 sets. She led the team with 95 blocks in 2014 and will look to do the same this year. » Arizona added two transfers from West Virginia, seniors Nikki Attea and Anna Panagiotakopoulos. Attea was a 2014 honorable mention All-American after registering 292 kills on .269 hitting. Panagiotakopoulos was the primary libero for the Mountaineers, accumulating 1,010 digs in three years. Adding two experienced players to the roster can only help, especially with a roster that is nearly half freshmen. CONCERNS » Losing Madi Kingdon, one of the best players in program history, will obviously hurt the Wildcats. Kingdon averaged 5.33 kills/set, good for fourth nationally, and led the country in total attacks with 1,813. The Phoenix, Ariz., native also led the team with 698.5 points on the season. Kingdon played more matches in her career than any other player in Arizona history (129) and left UA ranked No. 2 in both career kills (1,943) and career digs (1,366), and ranked seventh all-time in kills in Pac-12 history. » Inexperience will also be something Rubio and his staff will have to deal with in 2015. Arizona welcomes 11 student- athletes that will be new to the program, including nine freshmen. 2015 ARIZONA ROSTER
