LEAGUE-RECORD NINE TEAMS IN POSTSEASON, WASHINGTON CLAIMS PAC-12 CROWN WASHINGTON claimed the 2013 Pac-12 regular-season crown and headlined a league-record nine NCAA Tournament bids for the Conference. The Huskies earned the third season in the tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2006. It marked the fourth-consecutive year a Pac-12 teams had appeared in the national semifinals and the 30th time in 33 years at least one league squad had advanced that far of the postseason event. The Huskies highlighted a stacked Pac-12 contigency in the tournament that went 8-1 in the first round, also winning in dominating fashion, taking 26 of 31 sets. Collectively, the Conference posted a 15-9 record in the NCAA Tournament and is 399-212 all-time. UW earned the Conference's top seed, garnering the No. 3 seeding. USC (No. 6) and STANFORD (No. 7) were also seeded, with ARIZONA STATE, CALIFORNIA and OREGON all made consecutive tournament appearances, while ARIZONA, COLORADO and UTAH returned to the NCAAs for the first time since 2011, 2006 and 2008, respectively. The Trojans and Cardinal reached the regional finals, continuing the league's streak of at least one team has advancing that far in every year of the NCAA Tournament. Eleven Pac-12 players earned first-, second- or third-team AVCA All-America nods, and an additional seven were honorable mention. Five players alone were on the first team. USC's Ebony Nwanebu (Pacific South) and WASHINGTON STATE's Kyra Holt (Pacific North) were tabbed freshmen of the year in their respective regions. Washington's Krista Vansant was voted the AVCA National Player of the Year, the fourth-consecutive year a league player has earned the honor. She is also the first junior to win the award since 2007. Vansant was the Pac-12 Player of the Year with her coach, Jim McLaughlin receiving the Coach of the Year honor. Nwanebu was the league's Freshman of the Year, STANFORD's Madi Bugg was the Setter of the Year and USC's Natalie Hagglund was voted the Libero of the Year for the third-consecutive year. 2013 PAC-12 ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM PLAYER, SCHOOL POS.
