51 Looper and her staff guided the Hawkeyes to 27 wins in their inaugural season in 2011 and matched that win to- tal in 2012. In 2013, UI soball recorded 30 wins, which marked the highest total since 2009 when the Hawkeyes posted a 42-19 record. While the Hawkeyes fell short of their postseason goals in 2014 aer being eliminated in the opening round of the 2014 Big Ten Tournament by Illinois, the staff be- lieves the future is bright for this group of student-ath- letes. UI soball returns 11 for the 2015 season and will have just one senior — shortstop Megan Blank — and four juniors — outfielders Erickson, Repole, and Haley Hansel, and catcher Holly Hoffman. Blank earned her third-straight first team All-Big Ten selection and All-Region Team nod aer leading the Hawkeyes in batting average (.361), slugging percentage (.602), on-base percentage (.452), hits (48), doubles (11), triples (3), RBIs (25) and total bases (80). Hoffman has been a mainstay behind the plate in her first two seasons. She had her best offensive year, hitting .242 with four doubles and threw out a season-best 13 run- ners. Erickson also recorded her best year as she moved into a starting role in the outfield. She hit .229 with seven doubles and four home runs — the first long balls of her collegiate career. Repole saw time as an outfielder and designated hitter. Her .265 batting average, .398 slugging percentage, and .349 on-base percentage were third-best on the team. She tallied six doubles and three home runs. Reaching a Milestone By JIL PRICE U niversity of Iowa soball head coach Marla Looper, her coaching staff of Adrianna Baggetta, Stacy May-Johnson, and Chelsey Carmody, and the senior class of Brianna Luna, Kayla Massey, and Michelle Zoeller earned their 100th col- legiate win in the 2014 season finale. Trailing Ohio State, 2-1, on Senior Day in the bot- tom of the seventh inning, sophomore Erin Erickson knocked a ball out of the park to le to record a 3-2 victory and secure the 100th win milestone for her coaches and teammates. Sophomore Whitney Repole doubled to open the frame and came around to score on the long ball. "I told myself when I was walking up to just put the ball in play," Erickson said. "I got into a good count, saw she was struggling a little bit, and knew I was go- ing see something more over the plate. It felt good, but I didn't know it was over until I turned at first." For fourth-year head coach Marla Looper, her 100th win as a head coach is not about her, it's about the team and where Hawkeye soball is headed. "is 100th win is not about me, it's about the team," Looper said. "It says a lot about the team and the program since me and my staff have been here. We've continued to uphold the tradition that Iowa soball has had. It puts us in a different league. I think it's a stepping stone and that we're going to get to 200 a lot faster than we got to 100."
