Badgers' clash with LSU
set for prime time
Season opener in Houston will kick off at 8 p.m.
BY BRIAN MASON @BADGERFOOTBALL
I
t will be Wisconsin putting
a cap on the first Saturday
of college football in 2014.
The Badgers' season-open-
ing clash with LSU is set for a
prime time kickoff on Aug. 30,
meaning the Badgers and Ti-
gers have been tabbed to close
out a big day on the gridiron.
ESPN announced Wednes-
day that the Wisconsin-LSU
matchup in the AdvoCare Tex-
as Kickoff will get underway at
8 p.m. (CT) from NRG Stadium
in Houston. The game will air
live on ESPN.
The matchup will be the
first of three straight season-
openers in which the Badgers
will face a high-profile team
from the Southeastern Confer-
ence. UW opens the 2015 sea-
son against Alabama at AT&T
Stadium in Arlington, Texas,
before taking on LSU again to open the
2016 season at Lambeau Field in Green
Bay.
Wisconsin hasn't faced an SEC team in
a regular-season game since falling 27-7
to LSU in 1972 in Baton Rouge. That
followed a 38-28 Tigers win in 1971 at
Camp Randall Stadium.
LSU finished 2013 with a win over
Iowa in the Outback Bowl to cap a 10-3
season and a No. 14 final ranking in both
major polls. The Badgers finished 9-4 af-
ter falling to South Carolina in the Capital
One Bowl and ended the year ranked No.
21 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No.
22 in the Associated Press Top 25.
