ACADEMICS
During the annual Bucking-
hams awards show Monday,
some 260 UW student-
athletes were honored with
the "3.5 Award" for achiev-
ing a grade-point average
of at least 3.5. That includes
three Badgers who boast
a cumulative GPA of 4.0
― Nicholas Caldwell (men's
swimming), Kimberly Dinh
(women's golf ) and Taylor
Zimprich (women's track
and cross country).
MEN'S HOCKEY
Former Badger and current
San Jose Sharks forward Joe
Pavelski scored two goals
in the final regular-season
game of the 2013-14 NHL
season, giving him 41 goals
and making him the second
Badger in history to produce
a 40-goal season in the NHL.
Only UW alum Dany Heatley,
who had two 50-goal seasons
and two 41-goal seasons, had
previously acheived the mark.
MEN'S TRACK
Junior Zach Ziemek finished
third at the Bulldog Decath-
lon last weekend with a
score of 7,860 points. The
total demolished his previ-
ous record by 220 points
and ranks third on UW's
all-time list, behind only Joe
Detmer (7,963) and James
Dunkleberger (7,924).
SOFTBALL
Senior Michelle Mueller
hit back-to-back-to-back
jacks in the Badgers' 10-3
win against Illinois on Satur-
day. Her three consecutive
home runs are tied for the
second-most in NCAA his-
tory, and the three homers
also tied the single-game
school record.
