Big Ten championships
lived up to the hype
UW welcomed more than 28,000 to Kohl Center
F
ans of the sport already
knew it, outside observ-
ers finally got it and in-
nocent bystanders learned it.
Wrestling is exciting and no-
where is it more so than in the
Big Ten Conference.
The Badgers welcomed
more than 28,000 fans to
the 100th Big Ten Wrestling
Championships last weekend.
Fans were treated to the best
that the Kohl Center has to of-
fer ― lights, smoke and great
wrestling.
No. 1 seeds fell, two four-
time champions were crowned
and there was plenty of razz-
ing between the Iowa fans and
everybody else.
It was a great weekend of
wrestling and Wisconsin was
happy to host.
"It showcased our sport
and Wisconsin wrestling," UW
head coach Barry Davis said.
"A lot of great things are going
on in our sport and the cham-
pionships showed it."
Now the sport moves on
to its biggest stage, the NCAA
Championships March 20-22
in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Brackets will be drawn and
wrestling will commence with
330 wrestlers and end with
10, capping off another great
season.
