Wisconsin struggles with shooting in 1-3 stretch
BY DIANE NORDSTROM @BADGERWBB
I
n their last four games, the
Badgers are struggling with
their shooting, hitting less
than 40 percent from the field.
UW is shooting just 36.9
percent from the floor and
averaging just 55 points per
game over the stretch in which
it has gone 1-3.
"We're getting our chances,
we've just got to knock them
down," head coach Bobbie
Kelsey said. "I keep telling
them you're taking good shots.
You can't get discouraged if
you're a good shooter. You just
have to keep shooting them."
The Badgers have been
spending extra time in the
gym, working on their shots.
"We're going to keep fight-
ing and try to get some games
here to go our way," added
Kelsey.
WURTZ ONE OF THE BADGERS' BEST
● Senior Taylor Wurtz went over 700
career rebounds at Minnesota on Jan.
23, becoming just the eighth UW play-
er to record 1,200 points and 700 re-
bounds in a career.
The 6-foot guard has 1,229 points
in her career, which ranks 17th on
the UW career list, and 707 rebounds,
which ranks ninth. She is only the
third guard on the top-10 list for re-
bounds and averages 6.1 boards per
game for her career.
Wurtz also ties for third on the UW
career list with 191 3-pointers made.
She also ranks fourth on the 3-point
attempt list with 550 and 10th in
3-point field goal percentage at .347.
PAIGE HITS FROM THE LINE
● Senior Morgan Paige is shooting a sea-
son-best 87.3 percent from the free
throw line this season, which would
rank second on the UW season record
list. She is shooting 95.2 percent (20-
of-21) from the line in Big Ten games,
which leads all conference players.
Paige ranks third in career free
throw percentage at .817 (290-355),
ninth in free throws made at 290 and
10th in free throws attempted with
355.
