BY THE NUMBERS 100 MEN'S HOCKEY Senior forward Mark Zengerle became the 14th skater in Wisconsin history to collect 100 career assists after setting up a goal in each game last weekend at Minnesota. Prior to Zengerle, the last player to reach 100 career assists was Andrew Shier during the 1993–94 season. Shier finished his UW career with 115 assists. Zengerle's 100 career assists are 12 more than Notre Dame senior forward T.J. Tynan's 88, who is the next-closest skater in the country. 3,396 FOOTBALL Despite being held to just 120 yards in their loss to Penn State, the Badgers broke their single-season record for rushing yards of 3,309, set last year in 14 games, by running their season total to 3,396. UW also topped the 12-game school mark of 3,305 set in 1999. 5 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Five players are averaging double figures for UW in 2013. Taylor Wurtz leads the team at 14.7 points per game, while Michala Johnson (14.0), Morgan Paige (11.8), Jacki Gulczynski (11.8) and Dakota Whyte (10.2) are also putting up double-digit scoring numbers. The Badgers are the only team in the conference with five players averaging double figures. 23 VOLLEYBALL Wisconsin has won 20 or more matches in a season for the first time since 2007. The 23 wins for head coach Kelly Sheffield is tied for third-most by a first-year head coach in UW history. 18 // VARSITY December 5, 2013
