A tough road loss sets the stage for new focus
he Badgers took a stumble last week, but they
didn't fall down.
Wisconsin hit the road for a
tough matchup against Northern Iowa on Saturday, coming
away with a disappointing
29-9 loss. The Badgers were
ranked No. 24 at the time of
the match, the Panthers No.
16. The loss dropped Wisconsin out of the polls and moved

Northern Iowa to No. 12.
"It was a great environment," head coach Barry Davis
said of Northern Iowa's sold
out West Gym. "They came out
strong and we didn't match
their intensity. We came out
flat and they took an opportunity to capitalize on that and
they did well."
Wisconsin's night was highlighted by a pair of victories.

No. 6 Connor Medbery won UW's first
match of the night at heavyweight and
then-No. 10 Isaac Jordan wrapped up the
dual with a pin at 157 lbs.
"After the dual meet we had to analyze
a few things and talk to the guys and regroup," said Davis of this week's practice
plan. "We have Illinois coming up here
soon and we will see where we are at now."
For Wisconsin, the season doesn't get
any easier. In fact, it's about to get much
harder. Big Ten action starts on Friday
when No. 7 Illinois visits Madison. The
Badgers then hit the road for a dual
against Michigan State two days later.
"You sit down and watch a little bit of
tape from last week," continued Davis.
"You don't dwell on it, you point out a few
things and move forward and stay positive. (There will be) a lot of film watching
with the athletes, small little technical
things we have to work on to make sure
we are doing the right things preparing
for each match.
"When you prepare for an opponent,
I'm not really changing my skillset that
much, just changing a few things, but
the idea is how can I attack him with the
skills that I have."
The Badgers know their opponent,
they know their skillset, now they just
have to put it all together for a big weekend of Big Ten wrestling.
ISAAC JORDAN IMPRESSES
● With UW trailing 29-3 at Northern
Iowa, Jordan went out in a hostile crowd
and pinned his opponent in 1:50, an
impressive move for a freshman.
