or the first time in program history, the Badgers will pack their bags
for the Rocky Mountains as
Wisconsin will play Northeastern and Boston University in
Vail, Colo., this weekend.
The games will be a change

two days. The Badgers play
Northeastern on Friday at the
Dobson Ice Arena before concluding the trip on Saturday
against No. 8 Boston University.
"If you play someone, the
next night you see tendencies,
and your prep is going not to
be as deep when you play two
different opponents," UW head
coach Mark Johnson said. "You

have to take your Northeastern hat off
after that game and put your BU hat on."
Many players, including senior goaltender Alex Rigsby, are excited for the
chance to play in Vail against tough nonconference competition.
"I think it is pretty cool that we are
going to go out and play in Vail," Rigsby
said. "It is an awesome rink, it is going to
be fun. It is going to be a packed house,
and they will be a lot of energy. I think
with Coach running camps there, that
it is awesome that we are able to come
and promote the sport of hockey. A lot
of these girls probably haven't seen a Division I women's hockey game, as they
don't have teams out there, so I think it
will be cool for the town of Vail to see us
play."
The Badgers have made similar trips
in the past, having played Northeastern
in Lakewood, Calif., in 2004 and New
Hampshire in Fort Myers, Fla., in 2008.
Johnson believes the trips not only help
the Badgers travel the country, but helps
the sport overall.
"It is growing our sport, and taking
our product into an area that doesn't
have college hockey and showcasing it,"
Johnson said. "It is really a win-win situation. People in Vail have been great, and
I know we will have packed houses in
all four games. They will walk out of the
rink with their mouths down, realizing
how good these players are and it will be
a lot of fun."
