ASK THE BADGERS
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
''
There is discussion of placing an NFL team to Europe.
Do you think it would be a positive step for your sport's
U.S. professional league to expand overseas?
NIC KERDILES // SOPHOMORE // MEN'S HOCKEY
"I think maybe the better thing would be to televise the NHL
more in Europe. I know the time difference is an issue, but
just giving more NHL exposure to the European people, I
think they enjoy watching the NHL and seeing two different
styles of hockey and watching some of their great players
from their country play here. A lot of the best European
players come to North America to play anyway, and there's a
reason for that, because they want to play in the best league
in hockey. I don't think they should change that."
DUJE DUKAN // JUNIOR // MEN'S BASKETBALL
"I think it would be positive for the game just because there's going to be more people exposed to the sport and for a sport like the
NBA that commands attention because of the entertainment factor
it would be a huge plus. The only negative would be the travel and
the effect it has on the players. Other than that, I think it would be a
great idea to expand the game and get more people involved."
JAKE McCABE // JUNIOR // MEN'S HOCKEY
"I don't think the NHL should expand overseas. I think the
special thing about the NHL is that it's in North America
and a lot of European players have an aspiration to play
over here. There are already so many professional leagues
over in Europe, and it's a different style of play."
