Shawn Crisp
PIONEER DONOR
When enrolling at The University of Tulsa, Shawn Crisp
(BSBA '06, MBA '08) knew that attending college would
make a lasting impact on his life. What he didn't
anticipate, however, was that through the help of TU,
the lasting impact he would make on the lives of others.
H
ailing from a small town in rural Oklahoma, Shawn
Crisp grew up with many friends who were unable
to attend college. This fact always bothered Crisp, as he
realized the profound effect attending The University
of Tulsa had in providing a springboard from which he
launched his career.
With a bachelor's degree in marketing and an MBA, both
from TU, Crisp recognized that while a college degree isn't
required for a successful life, a properly leveraged degree
opens many more doors and provides opportunities that
some of his hometown friends had never dreamed were
possible.
A CPA and newly appointed vice president at Trust
Company of Oklahoma, Crisp decided that if a financial
burden was preventing those at home from achieving a
higher education, he would do all in his power to help. By
creating an endowed scholarship as a Pioneer Donor, Crisp
could help provide the same support he received from The
University of Tulsa. The scholarship bearing Crisp's name
is intended to aid business students of any major, with a
preference for TU students graduating from high school
classes of 200 or fewer students.
When asked what he hopes to see come out of future
business students, Crisp explained that he looks forward to
seeing history repeat itself.
CRISP'S message
to students
"I hope you will continue the
legacy of those who have come
before you. Look at what alumni
of the Collins College of Business
have achieved and recognize
that future and recent graduates
have some big shoes to fill."
