e class of 2012 was ducted into the UW hletic Hall of Fame. The W Club sponsored student-athlete career night at the Kohl Center. Nearly 18,000 runners and walkers participated in the 2013 Crazylegs Classic. Members of the 1983 NCAA Championship men's hockey team were honored in 2013. ll of Fame For Current Student-Athletes Crazylegs Classic Reunions The National W Club sponsored or co-sponsored 10 events for current student-athletes during the year, including the Senior Athletic Director Thank You dinner and letter jacket ceremonies for all sports in Heritage Hall. The W Club sponsored diversity networking events such as the Diversity BBQ and Student-Athlete Career Night at the Kohl Center. In addition, the club co-hosted The Buckinghams, a formal affair held at the Overture Center to honor academic excellence in the department. The W Club also annually sponsors the W Club Community Service Award, which honors one student-athlete from each sport who is a leader in giving back to the Madison community. The 2013 Crazylegs Classic celebrated its 32nd anniversary in April with the number of runners and walkers nearing 18,000. This annual springtime event is organized and administered for UW Athletics by the National W Club and a loyal set of long-time race volunteers. The race is named for Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch, the former UW–Madison football star and athletic director who was the official starter for every race from 1982 until his death in 2004. Since that first race in 1982, more than 285,200 runners and walkers have taken part and helped raise more than $4.7 million for UW Athletics. In 2012-13, the W Club and the UW Athletic Department hosted sports reunions for men's and women's hockey, men's soccer, men's basketball and the 1962-63 Rose Bowl team. This fall, men's and women's swimming and diving, women's rowing and softball alums will return to Madison for their reunions.
