he Wisconsin women's
soccer team enters 2013
with the mindset of making a return trip to the NCAA
tournament this season after
earning a bid in three of the

Junior Cara Walls, a secondteam All-Big Ten honoree in
2012 and Big Ten All-Freshman team standout Kinley McNicoll, will play huge roles in

Paula Wilkins welcomed in a 2013
class that was touted as a top-20 group
by many women's soccer publications.
Wilkins herself admitted this is one of
the top-five classes she has ever recruited in over 20 years of coaching, which
is impressive when looking at the pro
and Olympic careers many of her former
players have gone on to enjoy.
Among the talented newcomers are
Ohio natives Rose Lavelle and Micaela
Powers. If healthy, the duo will make an
immediate impact on UW's attacking
unit and will help take the burden off of
Walls who has led the Badgers in points
each of the last two seasons.
RICHARD EARNS GK OF THE YEAR
● Badgers GK Genevieve Richard earned
the W-League's GK of the Year honor
on July 27. The Saint-Bruno, Quebec,
native led the W-League with six shutouts in 11 matches for the Laval Comets and earned a 0.545 goals-against
average during the regular season.
LAVELLE TRAINING WITH U.S. U20
●Freshman Rose Lavelle was recently
called up to train with the U.S. U20
women's national team in preparation
for their match against Japan later this
month. Lavelle has earned five caps in
international play with the U.S. squad.
