2 Page Virginia High School Hall of Fame With the establishment of the Virginia High School Hall of Fame in 1990 and today's enshrinement ceremony recognizing the 33rd class of inductees into this elite group of men and women, the Virginia High School League welcomes a new class of inductees. Millions of students and adults have par3cipated in Virginia's public schools' athle3c and academic ac3vi3es. These outstanding men and women are being honored tonight for their dis3nguished par3cipa3on in athle3cs and contribu3ons to athle3cs, ac3vi3es, school administra3on, coaching, officia3ng, and advising. With great pride, we recognize these individuals who have touched the lives of so many people through their accomplishments and years of dedicated service. They rep resent the best and brightest in their professions, epitomizing the posi3ve values inher ent in educa3onal programs. League staff, coaches, administrators, and fans conceived the idea of a Virginia High School Hall of Fame many years ago, but un3l 1989 there was no suitable loca3on to house the Hall of Fame. When the new headquarters building of the Virginia High School League opened in the spring of 1989, the dream became a reality. The Virginia High School League sponsors the Hall of Fame. Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and moral character and must carry the endorsement of their respec3ve high schools. In addi3on, all candidates must have made significant and longterm contribu3ons to interscholas3c athle3cs and ac3vi3es. While many have served their schools and local programs during dis3nguished careers, their accomplishments must have been worthy of state recogni3on. Without meaningful state impact, longevity alone does not cons3 tute appropriate creden3als for Hall of Fame selec3on. We hope that all cons3tuents of interscholas3c programs will share our pride in the Virginia High School Hall of Fame. We believe that the honored men and women have inspired and will con3nue to inspire our youth to strive for and accomplish the highest levels of achievement possible. Finally, we invite you to visit your Virginia High School Hall of Fame, which stands to preserve the rich heritage of educa3onbased athle3cs and ac 3vi3es throughout the commonwealth.
