37 A season unlike any other in University of Iowa women's golf history ended April 25 at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio. A team led by underclassmen — and dealing with a global pandemic — set the stage for three months of trials, tribulations and a whole lot of success. Florida, Vegas, Arizona, Utah, Tennessee — the first five tournaments had the Hawkeyes in four different time zones with four different golfers taking their turn to lead Iowa. e Hawkeyes' first west coast stop gave them their first of four top-five finishes of the season. Aer a stop in Tucson, Arizona, the Hawkeyes concluded their west coast trip in Hurricane, Utah, with a second-place finish at the BYU Spring Classic. e final round was canceled because of inclement weather, but that didn't stop Iowa from a record-breaking trip. Sophomore Jacque Galloway tied for the fih-best individual performance for 36 holes in Iowa history. e tournament also gave the team the fih-best team score for 36 holes, and its first-round 288 was good for the ninth-best team round in school history. e Chattanooga Classic was the second of three straight tournaments that Galloway, sophomore Morgan Goldstein and freshman Klara Wildhaber finished in the top 10. e second round at Black Creek Club was the third-best team round in school history and featured Goldstein and Wildhaber shooting a 69 (-3), the 15th-best round in the Iowa record book. e only in-state tournament of the year was a dominating win in Cedar Falls in the UNI Spring Invitational. Six Iowa golfers finished in the top 10 of the individual leaderboard. With the final month of the season was upon them, trips to Bloomington, Indiana and Cincinnati, Ohio were the only tournaments le in sight. Wildhaber didn't make the trip to the Indiana Invitational because of a wrist injury that set back the Hawkeyes. Iowa closed the season at the Big Ten Championships with Goldstein and Wildhaber sharing Iowa's top individual finish. at was a common theme for the Hawkeyes as the two did so three times this season. e spring 2021 season featured the team, as well as three individuals, cracking into the top 20 for best season scoring averages at Iowa. e team's 77.9 average through eight tournaments is the 12th-best in program history. Wildhaber's 73.9 scoring average places her sixth all time on the individual list. Goldstein finished with a 74.9, which was good for 12th, and Galloway sits 19th with a 75.7 season scoring average. With the Hawkeyes graduating only three seniors, the future is bright in Iowa City with so much young talent taking the reins for the future of Iowa women's golf.
