49 I t has been a great start to the 2021 University of Iowa women's golf season with records being set in the first two tournaments of the season. e Hawkeyes kicked off the season at the Florida Atlantic University Paradise Invitational on Feb. 8-9. e Hawkeyes collected a three-round team score of 896 (+32), finishing in eighth place. "It felt so good to be back on the road and in competition together," Iowa head coach Megan Menzel said. "We had some strong moments and we are glad to know what to focus on the next few weeks. It was great to see Jacque (Galloway) fire an under- par round (Feb. 8), and Klara in her debut looked very steady." In the first week at the FAU Paradise invitation, three golfers led the Hawkeyes tied for 24th with scores of 222 (+6), including freshman Klara Wildhaber and sophomores Morgan Goldstein and Jacque Galloway. In her Hawkeye debut, Wildhaber recorded six birdies and finished 38 holes at par. Goldstein finished the first round one over par, collected 4 birdies, and finished 41 holes at par. Galloway finished the second round with a team-low score of 71 (-1), 8 birdies and 33 holes at par. Week two at the Rebel Beach Invitational was record-breaking for the Hawkeyes. Iowa finished stroke play at Rebel Beach with a fourth-place 54- hole score of 895 (+31). e Hawkeyes' second-round score of 284(-4) is the second-best 18-hole score in program history and Iowa's best performance since 2015 when the Hawkeyes recorded a 282 at the Johnie Imes Invitational during the 2015 fall season. e record breaking continued with a superb individual performance by sophomore Lea Zeitler. Zeitler recorded the 18-hole tournament low during the second round with a score of 66 (-6) – this mark is the lowest individual performance for 18 holes in the Iowa women's golf record book. Zeitler carded 30 pars and 13 birdies over three rounds. Zeitler led the Hawkeyes, finishing in second place with a 54-hole score of 216 (E), etching her name in the Iowa record books, tying for 10th on the top-15 individual performance list. "I had a really solid week," Zeitler said. "ere were windy conditions, so I just tried to go out there and be very patient. I made a good game plan before and worked on some things with my coaches and just went in with a clear mind." Freshman Klara Wildhaber tied for fih place with a 54-hole score of 219 (+3). Wildhaber shot 34 holes at par and collected nine birdies. Sophomore Morgan Goldstein tied for 19th with a 54-hole score of 225. Goldstein tied her career- low in the second round with a score of 72 (E). Goldstein shot 37 at par. MARCH SCHEDULE March 15-16 at BYU Spring Classic March 29-30 at Chattanooga Classic
