2 0 1 9 - 2 0 P A C - 1 2 Y E A R I N R E V I E W 78 M E N ' S S W I M M I N G A N D D I V I N G CALIFORNIA men's swimming captured its third-straight and seventh all-time Pac-12 Men's Swimming & Diving Championship in Federal Way, Wash. The Golden Bears collected 10 individual and four relay titles to earn a total score of 856, outdistancing second-place ARIZONA, which finished with 578 points. The No. 13 Wildcats had nine podium appearances propelling it to its second-place finish and No. 16 STANFORD took third place with a score of 573.5. Combined, the league's swimmers recorded three national-best times with six in the top-10, and posted 21 NCAA 'A' cut times and set five Pac-12 Championship records. Cal's Ryan Hoffer was named Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet after capturing six titles and setting two meet records at the Conference championship. The junior took first in the 50-yard freestyle with the fastest time in the country (18.87) and helped Cal set new Pac-12 Championship records with wins in the 200-yard medley relay (1:22.16) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:46.92). Jack Dolan of ARIZONA STATE was voted Pac-12 Freshman of the Year after taking the podium four times at the Pac-12 Championships, the most of any freshman. California Head Coach David Durden was tabbed Pac-12 Swimming Coach of the Year for the third-straight year, marking his ninth award all-time (2010-14, 2016, 2018-20). Durden capped a perfect 6-0 season by leading California to its third-straight and seventh all-time Pac-12 Championships victory. Arizona State's Youssef Selim was voted Pac-12 Diver of the Year, becoming the ninth Sun Devil to earn the honor and the first since 2011. The senior took second in the 1-meter springboard (380.25), and fourth in both the 3-meter (387.85) and platform (347.15) to tie for the most individual points (47) at the Pac-12 Championships. Arizona's Bjorn Markentin was named Pac-12 Freshman Diver of the Year as he was just one of two freshmen to finish in the top-eight in all three events at the league championships, including two podium finishes to help give the Wildcats an early lead heading into the swimming competition. The freshman finished first in the platform with a score of 384.70, third in the 3-meter springboard (384.70) and eighth in the 1-meter (341.15). USC's Hongping Li was voted Pac-12 Diving Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career (2009, 2016-18, 2020) after leading the Trojans to six top-eight finishes for a total of 95 points and a tie for first in the diving portion of the Conference Championships. 2020 (Federal Way, Wash.) 1.
