Host Program
2019–2020
T
HANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF ALUMNI AND FRIENDS of the University of
Virginia School of Medicine, we are able to enhance the learning experience
of today's students, from providing students with stethoscopes and lab coats
to hosting Family Day and mentoring workshops.
Another example is our Host Program, which pairs fourth-year students traveling
on residency interviews with local UVA medical alumni. Here's what some of
the students in the Class of 2020 who participated in this year's program said:
"This was a helpful opportunity to me to save some expenses and meet more
UVA alums successfully practicing as physicians."
"The Host Program is an incredible way to save money and reduce stress
on the interview trail, and I am grateful to have met such warm, welcoming
UVA alumni."
"Within 24 hours of requesting a host for my interview in Philadelphia, I was
paired with a recent alum who was very excited to host me and show me
around the city! Everything went smoothly leading up to my interview, and it
was really nice to feel like I had a little piece of Charlottesville on the road."
