CLASS NOTES: ALUMNI THROUGH THE YEARS 1970S Claudia Hazelhurst, ‘71 Claudia just retired from the City of Grand Junction after working there for 44 years, which is one of the longest tenures of any City of Grand Junction employee. Throughout that time she has served in human resources and was promoted to the director’s position in 1977 where she remained until her retirement. In her retirement, she is looking forward to an unregimented lifestyle, some travel and lots of time with family, especially her first granddaughter. 1980S Patricia Campbell, ‘85 Patricia lives in Illinois and is currently a hospice chaplain and an author. The coursework she completed at Mesa regarding human services has served her exceptionally well. As a therapist, and now a minister, it continues to inform her work in a holistic way. She also recently published a book. 1990S Sharlotte Fox, ‘91 Sharlotte is retired from a career in behavioral counseling. After graduating from Mesa, she established the Alpha Counseling Center in Grand Junction with her business partner, Dr. Saul Thompkins, which then expanded throughout the West Slope. She resides in the Phoenix area and is enjoying life there. She purchased her house because it was only 15 minutes from where the Arizona Cardinal Football Team plays, and she was able to make it to every home game last year. She has two grown children, a daughter who lives in the Phoenix area and a son in Brazil. Jeffrey Scheetz, ‘93 Jeffrey lives in Peoria, Arizona, with his wife, CMU alumna Tammi (Schroeder), and their two sons. His career has been in information technology. In 2004, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs. He has worked as a senior programmer for MCI Corporation, technical principal for FedEx Services, IT instructor for Colorado Technical University and director of information services for the City of Montrose. In 2017, he became the chief information officer for the City of Avondale, Arizona. While in Montrose, he served on the board of the Colorado Government Association of Information Technology (CGAIT), including a term as chair from 2016-2017. He has volunteered with Awana, the Montrose Amateur Radio Club and the IT Advisory Committee for the Delta-Montrose Technical College. Tammi (Schroeder) Scheetz, ‘93 Tammi lives in Peoria, Arizona, with her husband, CMU alumnus Jeffrey FLASHBACK 1925 Did you know football was the first sport added to the university’s athletics program? It was established in 1925, the same year the school was founded.
