How did you get involved in supporting Milwaukee Athletics and men's basketball? My significant other is a UWM graduate and I started attending the men's basketball games with him. Two of my sisters, my brother-in-law and most of their friends that I've known since I was 16 years old are UWM alumni. I love the city of Milwaukee and UWM is a big contributor to the success of this community. What do you hope to accomplish with your support and gifts? It is important to give back and although I attended Marquette University for undergrad and dental school, I tend to contribute where I believe there is the greatest need. Marquette doesn't need my money-don't tell them that… but UWM does. I'm not convinced that enough alumni of public institutions see it as their role to donate but they should. Were you involved in athletics as a student in college or high school? Yes. I ran track and played intramural basketball because my school didn't have a women's team in 1973. At Marquette I had the honor of playing on the first women's varsity basketball team in 1976. It was a big deal to practice right after Al McGuire's men's team who won the NCAA tournament the following year. What have you gotten back from your giving? It makes me feel connected to something larger than my own self interests. Supporting student athletics and attending the games reminds me of the drive, dedication and time management skills that it takes play collegiate sports. What is your most memorable Milwaukee Athletics game or experience as a fan…so far? Win or lose, it is exciting to watch the players skill, athleticism and passion for the game. *** MKEPANTHERS.COM | 46
