Triple threat
Freshman Josh Gasser posted the first triple-double in Badgers history with 10 points, 12
rebounds and 10 assists in a 78-46 win over Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Gasser became the first Big Ten freshman to record an official triple-double. Earvin "Magic" Johnson
turned the trick in 1977 before assists were an official statistic.

HOME SWEET HOME: The men's basketball team opened the $76 million Kohl Center with a 56-33 win over Northwestern before 16,697 fans, including Sen. Herb Kohl.

GREAT START: Hockey officially became an intercollegiate sport at UW as the Badgers notched their first victory with a 1-0 win over Michigan.
