M ore than 450 alumni and their guests participated in the 2018 Medical School Reunion Weekend, April 27-29. Hailing from 36 states, nearly 260 alumni of the UVA School of Medicine returned to Charlottesville to celebrate a class reunion. This year's reunion gathered alumni from classes ending in 3 and 8. Throughout the weekend, nearly 50 events took place. They included: a School of Medicine update by Dean David S. Wilkes, MD; the induction of the Class of 1968 into the Robley Dunglison Society; a mixer for African-American alumni and students; family-friendly hikes; and the presentation of the Walter Reed Distinguished Achievement Awards to Richard G. Azizkhan, MD, Res. '83 and Joachim J. Tenuta, MD '87. To commemorate the occasion, many alumni made gifts in honor of their reunions. More than $5.1 million was donated to the Annual Fund and/or class funds of alumni in a reunion year. The Class of 1958 had the highest giving percentage at 56 percent, and the Class of 1968 raised the most for the School of Medicine, with $4.7 million in pledges and gifts. reunionweekend APRIL 27 – 29, 2018 2 Vitals Fall 2018
