H ome Loan & Investment Company is celebrating their 120th anniversary in 2018, and the long-time success of the organization can be directly related to the large pool of talented individuals graduating from Colorado Mesa University who become employees. Currently, there are more than 20 CMU alumni working at either Home Loan Insurance or Home Loan State Bank. Home Loan's utilization of home-grown talent has created a company culture that cares deeply about clients and the community. Dennis Derrieux, vice-president of business strategy, who joined Home Loan in 1996 said, "Home Loan's ability to attract and retain quality graduates of CMU has been vital in our ongoing success as an organization. Our employees have a great deal of pride for Home Loan and for CMU." Many alumni who work at Home Loan continue to be actively involved with the growth of Colorado Mesa. They've engaged in various roles including serving on the university's Board of Trustees, Alumni Board of Directors, Foundation Board, Maverick Club Board of Directors and the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Board. Home Loan Chairman and CEO Jamie Hamilton has also served as CMU's Athletic Director in the past. "We believe in giving time, talent and treasure," said Hamilton. The prosperity of CMU has been a key focus of Home Loan's annual giving, which averages about $150,000 per year to local causes and nonprofits including CMU. "CMU is an elite partner and organization to work with," Derrieux said. "We're involved in the business department and the athletic department. We provide hands-on support to help make CMU a great place." • Home Loan & Investment Company attributes a large part of their success to employing Colorado Mesa University alumni.
