Badgers looking to
finish 2012 on high note
Wisconsin hosts UND before 3-week hiatus
H
ead coach Mark Johnson has always described the regular season
as being more like two small
seasons, and its easy to understand why. After this
weekends series with North
Dakota, the womens hockey
team will be idle for 25 days.
The games against UND
also carry higher importance

for the Badgers, as they find
themselves sitting in fourth
place with a .500 conference
record. Additionally, UND
sits in third place, just two
points above Wisconsin.
The race for second place
is extremely close, with only
three wins separating UW
from second-place Ohio
State.

While winning games isnt down to
a do-or-die mentality yet for UW, the
Badgers need to put themselves in a
position to start the second half of
the season among the second-place
pack, instead of trailing behind and
trying to play catch-up.
The Badgers also need at least a
weekend split to avoid becoming the
first UW team to finish the first half
of a season with a conference record
below .500.
Fortunately, Wisconsin has been
playing well lately, entering the
weekend with a seven-game home
winning streak and playing well
enough in two losses to No. 1 Minnesota to move up in the national polls.
The Badgers needs to put last
weeks losses behind them, and focus on continuing to play the hockey
they have been capable of playing recently. If they can stick to the plan,
the Badgers should be ringing in the
new year on a high note.
