LARRY SCOTT PAC-12 COMMISSIONER WELCOME! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Pac-12 Conference. This past school year was the first of the Pac-12's second century, and the student- athletes and coaches of our 12 universities made it clear that they intend for this century to be as illustrious as our first, winning a total of 13 NCAA Championships in 2016-17 and pushing the Pac-12 over the 500-mark in all-time NCAA team championships. As we move forward, the Pac-12 intends to continue to serve as a catalyst for our universities' brands' growth and exposure, for progress and forward thinking in college sports, and for sustained academic and athletic excel- lence across our campuses. That balance of athletic and academic achievement has come to define the Pac- 12 as the "Conference of Champions ®." Home to thousands of talented student- athletes and 12 storied institutions of higher education, the Pac-12 has won far more NCAA Championships than any other conference while asserting domi- nance in Olympic sports on the international stage. As we celebrate our tradition of success across all sports, as well as off the field, we also strive to modernize college athletics and ensure that it will continue to benefit all student-athletes, present and future. The most vital role of the conference is to make sure that its student-athletes have every possible opportunity to excel in their sport and otherwise. To that end, we are funding millions of dollars in research to improve student-athlete health and well being, we have added student-athletes to the conference's formal gov- ernance structure, and we've rewritten the rules around student-athlete time de- mands to ensure that student-athletes have the time necessary to pursue all of their academic and extracurricular interests. The universities of the Pac-12 are centers of excellence, fueled by a perpetual pursuit of research and discovery, and we as a conference seek to harness that pioneering spirit for the benefit of student-athletes everywhere. Our vision remains rooted in the West Coast, but our appetite for innovation has pushed us outside traditional geographic boundaries. Reflecting our universities' global reach, the Pac-12 remains uniquely committed to a global vision of col- lege sports. We're exporting our unique combination of elite higher education and best-in-class athletics around the world, while giving student-athletes the opportunity to enjoy new cultural experiences and important career development. The Pac-12 is also proud to continue providing our student-athletes with unprec- edented exposure on Pac-12 Networks. In addition to telling the moving stories of our student-athletes and coaches, Pac-12 Networks pushes the limit of what a wholly-owned media company can do for our universities. From televising 850 live events, to engaging fans on innovative digital platforms, to providing athletic departments with sales, sponsorship, and analytics support, Pac-12 Networks provides our universities with incredible resources and flexibility in a new era of college athletics. As you can see, there are many exciting things happening on and off the field here in the Pac-12. Over the 101-year history of the conference, our universi- ties have proven time and time again that they are uniquely committed to both championship-level athletic success and world-class educational opportunities. The 2017-18 academic year promises to once again produce magical moments on and off the field, captivate fans with championship performances, and develop young people ready to take on the world. I hope you enjoy every minute of it. Sincerely, Commissioner Larry Scott
