TIERA STEPHEN »» SENIOR • WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BADGERING... What have the first few weeks of practice been like? "Its been a lot of teaching and learning. Getting in the plays and defense. And we are definitely getting into top shape!" How have the seven newcomers been fitting in? "Good. You have to respect their eagerness to get better and learn all the new material that is thrown at them. Being that there are so many new players this year they are kind of just mixed in with the vets. They are learning on the fly." What differences have you seen in Bobbie's second year? "I feel like she made it a point to be more patient. It is always hard to come in as a first year coach and put in a totally new system. Now she looks to the returners to help the new players out. She is very optimistic and confident in our team." What sort of team bonding has the team been doing? "We had a few team dinners over the summer. Its a little tough trying to coordinate everyone's schedule to plan a big team event during the basketball and school season. We will most likely try to visit a nice haunted house soon!" How are you approaching your final year of basketball? "Just to go out with a bang and really appreciate this blessing I have. Have fun and leave nothing behind." What would you tell a fan about why they should come watch the team this year? "Its a nice family event where you will see a team just playing their hearts out and leaving everything on the floor. Blood, sweat and tears." 22 » VARSITY OCTOBER 18, 2012
