CMU reinvigorates internship
and career placement services
Colorado Mesa University recently refreshed its
student internship and job placement services. And
the Alumni Relations office formalized efforts to
match alumni with alumni for career opportunities,
networking and mentoring.
The announcement came as part of a ribbon cutting
ceremony hosted by the Grand Junction Area Chamber
of Commerce for CMU's Career Services new home.
The new career services office is on the University
Center first floor in a newly refurbished space.
CMU President Tim Foster said that one of the
most important functions the Career Services offers
is to match CMU students with internships and
graduating students with career opportunities.
"To that end, we are going to implement a new,
user-friendly platform to allow businesses to easily
post internships and job openings and our students
to easily connect with prospective employers,"
Foster said. "Our new CMU Job Link program will
be powered by Handshake, a national platform and
job-search software used by more than 400 colleges
and universities and more than 20,000 employers.
We plan to have it operational in October."
Foster also announced the formalization of CMU's
efforts to support alumni hiring and mentoring
alumni with a new program through CMU's alumni
office called AMP, the Alumni Mentor Program.
There will be more information in the coming months
on these new programs.
