20 WOMEN'S SOCCER UIC came together for a program-best six wins on the year with a 6-10- 2 record, improving from last season's 5-12-2 and the inaugural campaign's 3-15-0. Five shutouts were secured, matching the number of clean sheets from 2015. The Horizon League campaign presented a 4-5-0 record that finished just shy of the Horizon League Tournament. Wins came over Youngstown State, Green Bay, Cleveland State and Wright State, three of which were shutouts. TRIO EARNS POSTSEASON HONORS At the conclusion of the campaign, the Horizon League announced its postseason award winners with Emily Wauer placing on the All- League Second Team and Tamae Douglas and Emily Valentine earning spots on the All-Freshman Team. It was the first career honors for each Flame as they brought the program total to six All- League and five All-Freshman accolades. UIC was in good hands throughout the year due in part to the 10 goal scorers, led by Rebeca Pallo (6) and Emily Wauer (4), and seven players who added assists, with Olivia Everin (5), Jasmin Carrera (4) and Wauer (4) at the top. Wauer (37), Pallo (36) and Everin (22) produced the most shots as they were three of eight players to have more than 10 attempts, and they combined for 51 shots on goal while all recording a shots on goal percentage of at least .500. UIC turned out its best offensive output as it has never had as many goals (21), added as many assists (19), taken as many shots (216) and put as many attempts on goal (99) as it did in 2016. Additionally, nearly half of the totals in each category came in the Horizon League season. On the opposing side, opponents totaled fewer goals, assists and 63 less shots than the year prior. There was also a span of five games where the opposition tallied a combined three goals across five games as UIC went 4-1 in that span. While the goalkeepers needed to make just a total of 79 saves, they came up with the program's top goals-against-average of 1.62.
