Day of Giving, a 24-hour event designed
to celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the founding of
Colorado Mesa.
Donors comprised of alumni members, faculty, staff,

select from among 14 fundraising campaigns for
scholarships, research, equipment and more.
In the 24-hour period, 170 gifts were received and
more than $17,000 was raised in support of our

in memory of Byron Evers
Byron Evers taught at Mesa for 25 years in Mass
Communication, a program he led for many years.
He started here in 1989 and retired in 2014. He
passed away on April 25. Evers touched the lives of
innumerable students as a teacher, as the long-time
faculty advisor for The Criterion and as a leader for
the Student Media Board.

Colorado Capital Conference
Seven Colorado Mesa University students and 93

attend the Colorado Capital Conference, June 21-23.
Senator Cory Gardner, Senator Michael Bennet,
Colorado Mesa University and University of Colorado
host the annual event, which gives 100 Coloradans
an opportunity to interact with our nation's leaders
and learn more about our government.
The conference included tours, speakers, seminars
and a parade. Conference attendees heard from
numerous elected officials, journalists, thought
leaders, former secretaries, a historian and a Supreme
Court justice.
