A native of Lake Forest, Ill., senior defenseman Jordan Brickner was a new face at UW after transferring from Colgate University last season. It didn't take long for Brickner to find her stride, as she played in all 40 games for the Badgers and led the UW defensemen in plus/minus with a +29. Her leadership on and off the ice didn't go unnoticed, and this summer her teammates voted her one of the team's assistant captains.
What are your some of your shift-to-shift goals during a game? "Being a defender, I never want to get beat to the puck in our end. I always want to win battles out of the corner. I never want to let anyone behind me out of the offensive blue line and I always want to keep all the opposing offenders in front of me."
What has it meant for your teammates to vote you as an assistant captain? "It's definitely a huge honor, especially coming in as a junior transfer, I didn't expect it at all. I think everyone on the team is a leader, we all work well together. Especially this year, we have a really hard- working team. It means a lot to have everyone leading by their own example. But I am definitely honored to be an assistant captain this year."
What are some of the things you always do before a game? "I get to the rink, hang out a little bit. I just like to relax, I don't do anything in particular. But I normally get dressed by putting everything on the left first, and then the right. So I get dressed early and sit there and listen to the music playing in the locker room. As a team we do silly little dances to the music and I just love doing that kind of stuff."
What's your most interesting class you're taking this semester? "I'm taking music 205 with (Michael) Leckrone. And he's just the cutest man ever. He's up there on stage dancing to all of the songs that he plays, so it's pretty entertaining to go to."
