HUSKIES IN The Northern Illinois women's soccer team is dedicated to commitment. Commitment to success on the field, commitment to excellence in the class- room and commitment to building relationships in the community. Through their dedication to social commitment, the Huskies develop relationships with local community youth, service and non-profit organizations. Locally, the Huskies volunteer at events that support local families and their fellow Huskies. The women's soccer team has volunteeed at Fun Fairs, Kids Day at the Convocation Center, NIU Cares Day, Huskies Supporting Huskies, Relay for Life, as well as many other opportunities. On a larger scale, the women's soccer team has devoted time towards raising funds and awareness for multiple cancer research foundations. In each of the last three seasons, the Huskies have dedicated a weekend to breast cancer awareness and in 2009, the Huskies competed in the KICKS Against Breast Cancer Collegiate Soccer Invitational at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears. The women's soccer team also took the initiative to start a Ronald McDonald House campaign at Northern Illinois. Through their efforts, the team co- ordinated with members of the NIU campus community to raise money for Ronald McDonald House charities by collecting pop tops and turning them in for monetary value and donating the profits. The Huskies support one another in both their individual and team efforts. The team logged XXXXX hours of community service during the 2011-12 academic year, finishing third of 17 NIU athletic teams, in the "Challenge of Champions." COMMUNITY
