The Badgers look to be ahead of where they were at this time last season, but that's not surprising for a team that returns five start- ers plus its libero. 44 » VARSITY AUGUST 23, 2012 Wisconsin returns 88 per- cent of its kills, 84 percent of its blocks and 80 percent of its digs from 2011. Sophomore Ellen Chap- man led the team with 2.83 kills per set last season while sophomore Crystal Graff added 2.63 kills per set. Se- nior Alexis Mitchell ranked third with 2.26 kills per set. Big Ten with 4.77 digs per set with sophomore Courtney Thomas rank- ing third with 2.58 digs per set. Graff chipped in 2.22 digs per set. Wisconsin also returns four of its primary passers in Hickey, Chap- man, Graff and Caroline Workman. The quartet passed 76 percent of the service receptions in 2011. Streaking Badger » Junior Annemarie Hickey looks to continue her streak of match- es with double-figure digs as she begins 2012. The 5-foot-8 libero had double-digit digs in the last four matches of the 2011 season, including three matches with 20 digs. Hickey, the Big Ten digs leader had 10 or more digs in 30 of the Badgers' 32 matches last season, including 10 matches with 20 or more digs.
