V I R G I N I A H I G H S C H O O L L E A G U E 66 Virginia High School Hall of Fame Class of 2016 Nothing but the best The 27th Virginia High School Hall of Fame Class features eight inductees bringing total membership to 264. S ponsored by the Virginia High School League (VHSL), eight individuals who have made outstanding contribu4ons to high school athle4c and ac4vity programs have been selected to the 2016 Virginia High School Hall of Fame. Members of the Class of 2016, the 27th inducted, will bring total membership to 264. The Class of 2016 includes three athletes (Cornelious Cousins, Jr. – Hermitage HS; Heath Miller – Honaker HS; and Meg Turner – George Wythe‐Wytheville HS); four coaches (Robin Dotson – Central‐Wise HS; Tom Harding – Honaker HS; Joel Hicks – Pulaski County HS; Munro Rateau – Fluvanna County HS) and one con‐ tributor (B.J. Carroll – Galax HS). The Hall is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of outstanding achieve‐ ments by students and adults in sports and ac4vi4es within Virginia's public high schools. Athletes are eligible for considera4on 10 years a%er comple4on of their high school careers and are judged primarily for their achievements in interscholas4c sports. Coaches are eligible a%er 15 years of experience or upon re4rement and are judged on the merits of their achievements at the high school level. Contrib‐ utors are professionals who have rendered significant services in some other ca‐ pacity such as administra4on, academic ac4vi4es, officia4ng, media or sports medicine. The 27th Hall of Fame induc4on dinner will be held on Wednesday, October 12, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Charlo5esville. Nomina4ons are due Oct. 31 of each year for considera4on for the following year. Athletes and coaches are screened by a commi5ee from the Virginia High School Coaches Associa4on and contributors by a commi5ee from VHSL. Final selec4ons are made by a joint commi5ee.
