ore than 450 alumni and their
guests participated in the 2016
Medical school Reunion Weekend.
Hailing from 35 states, over 260
school of Medicine alumni from
classes ending in 1 and 6 returned
to Charlottesville for this year's
celebration.
activities included: a tour of the
University Pavilion Gardens and the
Claude Moore Medical Education
Building; welcome receptions
throughout Charlottesville; class
dinners at Boar's Head inn; an
excursion to Blue Mountain
Brewery; a CME session featuring
Delos "toby" Cosgrove, MD '66, and
Naresh Gunaratnam, MD '91; and
private class events. the cover band
Hasselhoff, comprised of alumni
from the Class of 2006, performed
during the Multi-Class Cookout on
saturday night. it was their first show
since graduation, and they were a
big hit.
the reunion giving tradition also
continued this year, and we would
like to thank the 2016 reunion
classes for giving back so generously
to the UVa school of Medicine
reunionweekend

and UVa Health system. a total of
317 donors representing all reunion
class years participated, contributing
more than $1 million in gifts and
pledges. Our total reunion alumni
participation rate was 25 percent. the
UVa Medical alumni association
and Medical school Foundation is
proud to acknowledge that the Class
of 1966 raised the most dollars
($343,886) and also had the highest
participation (58 percent) among all
classes returning for the 2016 Medical
school Reunion Weekend.
