She was also one of the top-10 scoring freshman in the country, ranking eight overall. Hristova is expected to be the anchor to the offense again this season. • The Cougars are again a young squad with just one senior on the team this season. Head coach Junr Daugherty added another strong class of recruit, with five freshmen joining the team. Among the class of new recruits is Chanelle Molina, a three-time Gatorade Player of the Year from Hawai'i and a top-40 player. • Molina will boost the Washington State offense that ranked ninth overall in scoring in the Conference. Molina is an exciting passer and a good decision maker. She is also a scoring threat and likes to score. Her pres- ence on the floor could open things up even more for Hristova. Molina will also help to fill a void that was left behind by the graduation of Dawnyelle Awa who was third in the Pac-12 in assist-to-turnover ratio, while also ranking in the top 15 in steals. • Juniors Louise Brown and Caila Hailey also return this season. The duo were regular starters, doing a solid job in their roles. But each will have to step up to give WSU the needed boost to move up in the league standings. • Redshirt sophomore Nike McClure did a solid job of clogging up the pain in her collegiate debut. She ranked in the top 15 in the Pac-12 in blocked shots. She will need to continue in that role if the Cougars are going to make much-needed improvements on defense, as well. • Head coach June Daughterty will need to integrate a large recruiting class quickly and contend with the youth on the squad if the Cougs are going to make improvement.
