Entering her 20th season at the ASU helm, head coach Charli Turner Thorne brings back a veteran core that includes three starters from last season's cham- pionship squad. • In total, Turner Thorne is welcoming back seven letterwinners from last year's team. She has also added the 10th-ranked recruiting class in the nation to make up for big losses, five seniors, including point guard Elisha Davis, who ranked third in the Pac-12 in assists per game (4.97), and Katie Hempen, the team's sharp shooter from long range. • The Sun Devils have a seasoned group returning, including seniors Sophie Brunner, Quinn Dornstauder and Kelsey Moos. • An undersized forward, Brunner has been the lynchpin for Arizona State, leading the team in scoring and on the boards. She would have also ranked third in the Conference in shooting percentage had she met the statistical minimums, behind just an All-American and the national freshman of the year. • With the loss of so many key players, Arizona State will look to its talented recruiting class to step in and make an impact immediately. Most notably, guard Robbi Ryan looks to step in to add some offensive fire- power after being named Wyoming's Gatorade Player of the Year. • The heart of ASU's success is its defense. Consistently one of the top defensive teams in the nation, the Sun Devils ranked 21st in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 54.9 ppg, which also ranked second in the Pac-12.
