Kismet? Fate? Boy meets girl? Dylan and Tawnee (Woosley) Evans might just call it Maverick magic. The two Farmington, New Mexico, natives started their academic and athletic careers at the same community college in Texas, albeit a year apart. Tawnee was familiar with Mesa because her father attended and played football here in the early '80s. When Dylan decided to move from junior college to a four-year school, friends who attended CMU were quick to encourage him. They each received an offer to suit up for the Mavs. Tawnee was a standout softball player who eventually became team captain, and Dylan was a talented pitcher who worked his way into the starting rotation. Once at CMU, mutual friends suggested they should meet. After that there was no looking back. Their love grew for each other and for CMU. Both say they live by the mantra "Mav for Life" because of the amazing experience they had. Tawnee graduated in 2015 with a degree in business finance and Dylan in 2012 in sport management. The couple credits strong connections with faculty, amazing facilities and the nearby outdoor opportunities with making their experience so enriching. Their CMU experience influenced Tawnee's two younger sisters who now attend and play softball at CMU. Back in Farmington, Dylan and Tawnee are employed with natural gas companies and say their education wholly prepared them for the real world. This summer they were married in Mav-centric fashion and were very excited to welcome their first family member, a puppy named Mavie. They are not ruling out the possibility of returning to Grand Junction, but in the meantime they plan to travel, continue their favorite outdoor activities, reminisce about their CMU years and channel the Mavs every way they can. • A 'CUTE MEET' AT CMU Couple of Mavs become a Mav couple By Jared Meier In Memoriam The CMU Alumni Association expresses our deepest condolences to the colleagues, classmates, friends and family of those who now live in our memory.
