High tech takes Medicine
to the People
Over the last 20 years, Karen Rheuban,
MD, and her colleagues have worked
to develop UVa's telemedicine program,
creating innovative applications and
promoting policy changes that make
real differences in patients' lives. "We
are reaching more patients at the right
time, with the right providers for the right
reasons," Rheuban says.

Comprehensive Care
for Older adults
a partnership between the University
of Virginia and local agencies is the
latest addition to UVa's continuum of
care for older adults in the region. this
comprehensive approach to addressing
the complex needs of these patients is
one of the hallmarks of geriatrics as a
medical specialty and one that is critically
needed due to the skyrocketing elderly
population.
