UVA Alpha Omega Alpha induction Celebration

Thirty-four new members of the UVA chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha were inducted in March. The group was
comprised of 28 students, one fellow, two residents, two faculty members, and one alumna, Susan Pollart, MD
'82, who gave the keynote address. Faculty member James Moak, MD, RDMS, was presented with the AOA-
Brodie "Teacher's Teacher" award by Evan Heald, MD. Lloyd Kellam, MD '81, was presented with the Volunteer
Clinical Faculty Award by AOA Vice President Pat Kozak.

Women in Medicine: MedConnect Panel

To kickoff Medical School Reunion Weekend, the UVA Medical Alumni
Association organized a MedConnect alumnae panel and luncheon at
the Claude Moore Medical Education Building. Susan M. Pollart, MD '82
moderated the panel which also included Elizabeth A. Carr, MD '88 and A.
Ursulla Courtney, MD '97. Nearly 100 students and alumni attended and
engaged in this important dialogue. A post-event survey indicated that
100 percent of respondents would recommend the event to a friend.

The UVA Medical Alumni Association
hosted a MedConnect alumni panel
and networking reception during
the UVA Alumni Association's Black
Alumni Weekend. This event was
open to School of Medicine alumni,
undergraduate alumni and current
medical students. Greg Townsend,
MD '86 moderated the panel that
also included Lydia Jones Johnson,
MD '97 and Vivian Pinn, MD '67. The
UVA Medical Alumni Association
partnered with the SNMA Chapter
to shape and promote the event.
About 30 alumni and students
participated in the program, which
was highly interactive and lasted for
nearly four hours.
