COLLEGE DE GYNECOLOGIE OBSTETRIQUE ET DE PERINATALOGIE DE LA GUADELOUPE October 2015 Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, French West Indies. Dear Attendees Welcome in Guadeloupe for the Fifth International Breast Cancer Prevention Symposium: Epigenome, Environment & Prevention Tools. We are very proud to have been involved in this ambitious project of preventing breast cancer. It is a great honor and pleasure for our small island to be the host to such a distinguished group of health care professionals, advocates and researchers from around the world. Guadeloupe is a charming island offering beach and sea pleasures as well tropical forest discoveries. It is also about the 400,000 inhabitants who have experienced, during the two or three past decades, a fast socio-economic transition toward westernization. This transition was associated to the increase of incidences of some diseases such as breast cancer. Consequently, the question of prevention is central among our concerns which are oriented towards lifestyle, diet, genetic and pollution. Guadeloupe is also about health care professionals and researchers committed to this fight, but they are limited by geographic, scientific isolation and economical limitations. Gathering this international group of experts in the field of oncological health research and communication in Guadeloupe for this symposium represents the result of our collaboration with Purdue University and EHESP – French School of Public Health. It is also an extraordinary opportunity to establish international collaboration to share problematics, ideas, experiences and hopes. Thank you for your efforts for coming. I hope you will enjoy this symposium as well as the setting in which it will take place. Sincerely, Prof. Philippe KADHEL
