Follow our LEED To ensure the newest buildings operate at high energy eciency, one method Alpine Bank follows is to adopt and build to LEED standards. LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which is a standard for green building design, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED helps building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources eciently. Alpine Bank has designed, built, and LEED certied two new buildings between 2005 and 2009 and one LEED Commercial Interiors remodel. These buildings rank in the top percentile of the Alpine Bank buildings for quality of air and energy eciency. The core and shell of a building can underperform as well as heating and cooling equipment since poor insulation allows air inltration both into and out of a building. Insulation performance depends on materials and techniques used in the design and construction of walls and ceilings; the type of insulation and quality of installation; the type, size and number of windows and doors; the door and window seals; and the separation of the building's interior spaces from the earth. One of the rst priorities for a comfortable and energy-ecient building is to insulate properly everywhere, ignoring nothing. Ecient heating, cooling, ventilation equipment and lighting should then follow a tight building. Recently, Alpine Bank has opened two retail bank locations in the Denver metropolitan area – Union Station and Cherry Creek. These two locations are leased within larger LEED-certied core and shell buildings and the interiors have been built out by following LEED standards. Energy-ecient buildings are about more than environmental responsibility; they are about a happier, healthier and more productive future. Alpine Bank's South Rie facility is the rst nancial services institution to earn LEED certication in Colorado. 4
