I'm very excited about this addition to our campus because it will bring students with disparate interests and a knack for inventing together. They'll collaborate with one another to generate ideas, build prototypes and turn their concepts into real businesses in a place specifically designed to facilitate creativity. The Maverick Innovation Center is not the first business incubator on a university campus, but I think the people involved in the project are what sets it apart from others. The center will be run by Tom Benton, who brings more than three decades of experience as a banker. His knowledge will be complemented by inventors like alumnus Tom Osborn, an innovator with hundreds of patents to his name. Hands-on experiences like this are what make CMU so unique. I hope you feel that your time at Colorado Mesa University has proved valuable to you and that you're telling people what a great school you attended. You never know who you may be influencing, whether it's a prospective student, a donor or a policy maker. One of the best ways to let people know how proud you are to be a Maverick is to purchase a new Colorado Mesa University license plate. Thanks to Rebecca McKenna, CMU's Director of Alumni Relations, for her work in obtaining the new plates. I hope to see you on the road showing off your CMU spirit. Go Mavs!
